Flamingo upholstery is a one-woman business. turning tired chairs and sofas into beautiful pieces of furniture once again.

Familiar with both traditional and modern upholstery techniques, Janneke specialises in restoring antique upholstery. Traditional upholstery is a real craft and only taught by a few training centres around the country.

In the summer 2017, Janneke teamed up with upholsterer Frances from Hendron & Company upholstery, and  shares a workshop space with her in Dennistoun, Glasgow.

Janneke has a real love and talent for working with fabrics, colours and textures, building up the layers of a chair once again, with stunning results.  Have a look at blog posts to see some of her work!

She trained at Kendal upholstery and then at Stirling upholstery Craft Centre, resulting in an accredited Diploma (by the Association of Master Upholsterers – AMUSF ) in June 2016 (passed with distinction!). She gained further work experience with an established upholsterer and has worked on numerous commissions  herself.

    1. Hi Linda, thank you for contacting me regarding classes! They run every Wednesday evening in my workshop (Dennistoun, Glasgow) from 6-9 pm. People can book per class, so depending on their project it can range from one evening to many more. The cost is £25 per evening, and it is to be booked in advance by making contact and payment by bank transfer. If you are interested I can send you more specific information. Look forward to hearing from you again, Regards, Janneke
